Prayer Partners for Dominican Mission Trip

I’d be honored if you’d be our prayer partner during our trip the Dominican. Here is a general schedule of what we will be doing each day with prayer requests and then some specific requests for our family! I believe in prayer and your prayers are appreciated! While this is my 8th my trip to the Dominican, it's special because it's the first time my wife and daughter's first.

February 17-23, 2018

Team: Sherman, Jessica, and Layne Boyd, Gina Ellsworth, Judy Toalston, Joy and Josie Evans, Joy’s sister, Rita and her daughter Madalyn, Melanie Spence and the ReVision staff along with the translators.

Feb. 17th: Travel Day

Prayers for safe travel on all flights, no complications with airport security and international rules, no lost luggage, prayers that we quickly adjust to weather and time change. (Dominican is 2 hours ahead of us)

Feb. 18th: Day in Haina
  • Pray we can be aware of what the Lord wants us to learn from the morning Bible study.
  • Pray we can minister to the children and youth and truly love on them and visa versa!
  • Pray as we met people and share Jesus throughout the community!

Feb. 19th and 20th: Equipping Retreat

Church leaders will be staying with us at camp for 2 days as we lead them in an equipping retreat so that they can take back the things they learned to share at their churches! And visa versa.

During this retreat, Gina and Jessica will be sharing their testimony.  Pray the Lord will calm their nerves and will be led by The Holy Spirit. Gina and Jessica will also be leading a creative arts seminar throughout the 2 days where we teach them how to incorporate dance and sign language into their worship.  Prayers for no language barriers, bonds to be created among the women, and that we can finish everything in the amount of time that we are given.

Feb. 21st: Day in Palmar
  • Pray for safe travels throughout the 2 hour bus ride to Pal Mar.
  • Pray for us to love on the children as we minister to them using VBS type activities and participate in a hair washing and braiding ministry
  • Pray for the single mom we will be throwing a baby shower for.
  • Prayers for the few hours of free time we will have in the afternoon on the beach…rest, refreshment, safety, and safe travels back to camp.

Feb. 22nd: Day in the Life (Los Asises)
  • Pray for us as we spend the day learning and experiencing what a day in the life of the Dominican people really means.  We will be spending the morning in different homes and doing whatever they do in an ordinary day.
  • Pray that everything will be coordinated so that we can meet our compassion children in the afternoon!  Pray they can feel our love and that we can create a special relationship with them.
  • Pray for our last night together as we worship together with our Dominican family.

Feb. 23rd: Travel home
  • Pray as we prepare to go home that we can remember all we have experienced and come home truly changed and ready to share our stories!
  • Prayers for safe travels!

Specific Requests for our family:
  • Jessica and Layne are anxious about the food, water, sleeping, and their mosquitos.
  • Prayers for overall health for each of us before, during, and after the trip!
  • Prayers for safe travels to and from each of the cities….Jessica tends to get car sick…please pray that I will easily adjust to the riding/driving conditions in the DR.
  • Jessica’s mom’s birthday is on the 21st, and they always see each other on birthdays….this will be the first year they will be apart.
  • Prayers that this will be an incredible and life changing experience for our family!  We want to learn and grow throughout this experience!

Thank you for your prayers!  I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
