Telling Layne About Jessica's Surgery

I know God’s answered your prayers! We’ve been prayerfully waiting for the right time to tell Layne about Jessica’s upcoming surgery. She’s now completed her school year and her dance recital, which means it’s officially summer break for our family. Jessica had the opportunity to discuss the surgery with her Monday night while they were playing dolls together. Layne’s been going through a season of fear and anxiousness in the last month or two which is why we’ve been concerned about her reaction after being informed. In God’s grace, Jessica and I were surprised at her reaction, which was laughter. Jessica simply told her that the doctors had found a boo boo inside of her tummy that they needed to get out. She explained that they would cut her tummy open, get the boo boo out, and sew it back up. She of course had a few questions, but was overall very understanding! She walked over and kissed Jessica’s tummy and said: “Get better soon sweet tummy!” She also wanted to know “If daddy would go visit and pray for mommy like he does other people.” We assured her I’d be there and be praying with mommy too!
Thanks for your prayer, love, and support! We certainly appreciate continued prayer for Layne to feel secure and at peace with the changes in her schedule that will take place over the next week. We’re looking forward to the results, which in God’s grace, Thursday’s surgery will provide!
Sherman & Jessica
